Sam was born and raised in Sidney, Montana, where faith and music played pivotal roles in his upbringing. As the grandson and son of a preacher, Sam grew up in a family deeply rooted in faith, which fostered his passion for ministry and service to others. Growing up in this environment instilled in him a deep love for both faith and music, with music playing a particularly profound role in shaping his life and calling.
He earned a Bachelor's degree in Composite Music Education K-12, which laid the foundation for his current work as the Director of Youth and Music Ministries at Shalom Lutheran Church. In this role, he is deeply involved in both the church's youth program and its worship services, dedicating himself to nurturing the spiritual growth of the congregation’s young members and planning meaningful, impactful worship experiences. Whether it's through inspiring music or meaningful connection with the youth, Sam aims to foster a welcoming, faith-filled environment.
Outside of his ministry, Sam treasures time with his family. He, his wife, Kelsey, and their two beautiful daughters enjoy spending time together reading, singing, and being silly, enjoying simple moments of joy and connection. During the summer, you’ll often find them at the park or cooling off at a splash pad or pool. Guided by his personal philosophy to "Lead with love," Sam approaches every aspect of his life and ministry with compassion, empathy, and a heart for service. Each and every day is an attempt to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those around him, both within the congregation and in his personal life.
